Michigan CCW Requirements

To legally receive a CCW permit in the state of Michigan, there are some Michigan CCW requirements you must meet. Carrying a concealed weapon for self defense is a decision that is greatest not entered into lightly. There are a number of dissimilar firearm laws that regulate who may carry concealed weapons, in what areas they are legally allowed to carry them. Before Getting a Concealed Carry Permit

If you hope to carry a concealed weapon, you should become knowledgeable about the places where you are legally allowed to carry, and you must apply for a CCW permit, also known as a concealed carry weapons permit, if you are planning|scheduling on doing so legally. In the state of Michigan, the concealed carry weapons permit has a number of requirements that you must meet before a permit will be issued to you.

Michigan, however, does create getting a CCW permit more simply than some states, as it is a "shall carry" permit. Michigan also requires that you be a person of excellent moral character and of sound mind to get a CCW permit. You also cannot receive a Michigan concealed carry permit if you have ever been convicted of a felony in Michigan or elsewhere.

Filling Out Your Application

Once you have determined that you meet the requirements of the Michigan concealed carry permit, you can file the application, which is available for free from most county offices or local law enforcement offices in Michigan. After your background and application are thoroughly investigated, you will have to take a course in which you study firearm laws and firearm safety rules.
